These hard drives have been pre-formatted by SatKing to FAT-32 so they are ready to simply plug and play. Toshiba drives as standard are formatted to NTFS (wrong format for the SatKing DVBS2-800CA and they will not work). These hard drives are very compact and no external power supply is required with this unit.
